Don't Burn Out

Twenty four hours in our day

But not even a few moments to play.

How can that happen, you might say

At least take an evening and get away.

Reading books, I know, that's great,

Rising early and staying up late.

Driven by goals to help better man

Making every sacrifice and doing all we can.

I know that God expects our best

But even He found time to rest.

We need to smell the roses while they bloom

and sing along with our favorite tune.

Dear Lord, I commit my day to you.

Every moment, every hour that's all we can do.

You are not looking for burnt offerings or sacrifice.

Just a willing heart for doing what is right.

No one ever said on their deathbed: I wish I

would have spent more time at work!

For it is by free grace (God's unmerited favor) that you are saved (delivered from judgment and made partakers of Christ's salvation) through [your] faith and this [salvation] is not of yourselves [of your own doing, it came not through your own striving] but it is a gift of God.

Ephesians 2:8
